Experience the vibrant rhythms and soulful storytelling of Discos Resaca, a collective of Bay Area musicians who bring cumbia to life with a unique blend of traditional and contemporary influences. Their music, rich with the sounds of accordion, guitars, percussion, and congas, captures the essence of cumbia while infusing it with hip-hop and oldies. This fusion creates an irresistible soundtrack for celebration and reflection, tracing the cultural movements of the Latinx diaspora in the Bay Area. Discos Resaca's debut album, Y Te Cuento (And I'll Tell You), showcases their mastery of cumbia, with tracks that explore themes of community, history, and emotion. From the haunting "Chupacabra" to the nostalgic "Cumbia de San Jose," each song tells a story that resonates with listeners. The Meza sisters, known as Las Mariposas del Alma, lend their powerful harmonies to the collective, adding depth and soul to the music. Rapper Deuce Eclipse, co-founder of Bang Data will bring energy add lyrical flavor to the stage. With over 20 years of experience, bandleader Ivan Flores and his talented ensemble, including guitarists Fabian Martinez and Erik Molina, percussionist Wilson Posada, and conguero Pedro Rosales, create a dynamic and engaging live performance. Their cover of The Fuzz's 1971 soul classic "I Love You For All Seasons" has garnered international acclaim, blending traditional cumbia rhythms with mid-tempo soul in both English and Spanish. Join Discos Resaca for an unforgettable night of music that celebrates the rich cultural tapestry of the Bay Area. Don't miss the chance to dance and groove to the sounds of cumbia, oldies, and more.
