The East Richmond Heights Art and Music Festival returns for its 5th year! This fun, free, family friendly event takes place on Saturday July 27th from 11AM - 5PM along Bernhard Avenue outside the Gyuto Foundation Monastery (6401 Bernhard Avenue, Richmond). Originating in 2017, the ERH Art and Music Festival celebrates the artistic spirit of this scenic community perched along the edge of Wildcat Canyon. Amazingly, this 100% volunteer-run event has grown to over 50 artists, craftspeople, and community groups. The festival brings together some of the best local artists working in painting, graphic arts, photography, pottery, plants, leather, stone, jewelry, metalwork, clothing and bags, candles, and other crafts. A few of the many highlights include North and East Leather, Papercut Pottery, paintings and prints by Linda Ruiz-Lozito, repurposed cloth bags from Homesewn by Kathe, earrings, bracelets and headbands from Lauri La Pointe Jewelry, and award winning nature images from Alan Krakauer Photography. No festival is complete without food, and this one will not disappoint. You will find food trucks from Brazilian Brazuca Burger and Tacos Zaragoza plus offerings from Whey on Wheels, Selma's Pantry, Amelia Funghi Breads, and locally made jams from Golden Grove Goods. Got a sweet tooth? Check out the deliciously decorated cookies from Green Panda Eats, decadent ice cream from ChunkyButt Ice Cream, and summertime favorite Kona Ice. Quench your thirst at youth lemonade stand S&A Lemonade, and for 21 and over, sample wines from East Richmond Heights' own Perfusion Vineyard. A centerpiece of this festival is the small community stage placed under a shady oak at the corner of Bernhard and Elm Avenues. Grab a seat or patch of grass and soak up a full slate of performers. After a blessing from Gyuto Monastery monks and a welcome from County Supervisor John Gioia, the schedule includes the Richmond Jazz Collective, Chamber of Vestibules w/ Paul Mackinney, Amy Stenberg and Thomas Beeson, Blues Jammers, and is capped off by Dynamite Dave and the Detonators. Kids will enjoy facepainting, chalk-art stations, and a jewelry-making table. Everyone will enjoy respectfully exploring the beautiful grounds of the Gyuto Monastery and taking in the views of Wildcat Canyon.
